  • There is no downtime with dermaplaning. Some light redness may be seen, but not always. Typically, most patients can return to their daily activities immediately following treatment without anyone knowing.

  • Dermaplaning will NOT cause your hair to grow back darker or thicker. Rest assured, this is a common myth that has been debunked many times. When hair starts to grow back, it might feel different as it was cut straight across; however, it’s actually the same texture as before treatment and grows at the same speed. If you choose to stop getting dermaplane treatments, your hair will simply return to the same state it was prior to any treatment.

  • SkinPen works by creating a series of hundreds of microscopic channels into the dermis to stimulate the skin’s natural production of new collagen and elastin, helping skin to look and feel healthier.

  • After skin is cleansed, a topical numbing cream will be applied for approximately 15-20 minutes prior to treatment for maximum comfort. Clients typically describe a slight vibrating sensation from the microneedling device. Immediately following treatment, your skin will feel like you have a moderate sunburn and may feel warmer and tighter than usual. This is completely normal and will usually subside within 2-4 hours, with mostly full recovery in 24 hours.

  • Microneedling is most commonly done on the face, but it can also be done on the neck, legs, stomach, or any other areas you notice damaged or aging skin.

  • The total healing time for SkinPen microneedling depends on each individual. Most patients will have redness and some slight swelling, similar to moderate sunburn, for about 24 hours following treatment. Some patients may also experience mild peeling or flaking as well in the days following treatment.

  • The natural repair process of your own skin will continue to progress over the course of several weeks.   • The VI Peel treatment itself is a relatively quick process. At your appointment, the skin will be cleansed and the VI Peel will be applied. You may experience slight warmness and/or tingling in the beginning, but this should quickly subside. Besides that, VI Peel treatments are virtually painless!

    Immediately after the peel, skin will look quite orange and glowy. This will need to be left on the skin for 4 hours post treatment, so it’s important to plan accordingly. After 4 hours, you will rinse off the peel and follow up with the provided instructions.

  • Retinoic Acid is a powerhouse acid that inhibits melanin production and increases cell turnover. Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) targets signs of aging by exfoliating the skin and boosting collagen production. Salicylic Acid prevents inflammation by killing bacteria, suppressing sebum production, and cleansing the pores. Phenol is the secret weapon that numbs the skin and allows for a painless application.   • Yes! All of our VI Peel treatments are safe and effective for ALL skin tones. Inclusivity is central to the VI Peel brand and mission, and all Vitality Institute products are created with skin of color in mind.

  • Everyone’s skin is different, so the number of peels needed for desired results varies from person to person, and from skin condition to skin condition. While just a single peel will achieve significant skin rejuvenation, such as less pigment, smoother skin texture, and brighter, more glowy skin overall, a series of at least 3 peels is generally recommended for optimal results.

  • Purging or mild breakouts after a VI Peel is completely normal! This type of acne purging can happen after any exfoliating treatment, as the treatment increases cellular turnover, not only lifting dead skin cells but also allowing for any congestion that is trapped beneath the skin to come to the surface. It's important to remember that your acne may seem to get worse before getting better, and you may need multiple VI Peel treatments to resolve your acne. Purging of the skin will reduce with subsequent peels as congested pores become cleared.

  • While everyone is a little bit different, your skin may look smooth, tight, and radiant the first day or two following the VI Peel treatment. In general, you will start peeling on or around day two or three and can expect to peel for about three or four days afterward. Depending on the condition of the skin, some may peel for more or fewer days.

    It is also possible that you may not experience much or any peeling at all. Please note that even if you don’t see any peeling with the naked eye, the VI Peel is still working for you and exfoliating at a cellular level to brighten and improve the skin’s appearance.

  • POST-TREATMENT

    • No makeup or skincare products may be applied within the first 4 hours of treatment.

    • Refrain from exercise for at least 72 hours after treatment to prevent any blistering in the skin or Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH). If you are prone to pigment or melasma, it’s suggested to refrain from exercise for the entire peeling process so as to not induce heat or inflammation in the skin that can lead to further damage.

    • Be sure to follow the instructions on the pamphlet provided after the VI Peel.

    • DO NOT pull on the skin that is shedding. If necessary, it is recommended to use a clean, small cuticle scissor to trim the exfoliating skin. You can also wash the face very gently to help remove the hanging skin but be sure to not rub excessively.

    • If washing the face multiple times a day, be sure to add moisture back to the skin by applying the provided Post Treatment Repair Cream and use the VI Dermal SPF 50+ to protect the skin during and after the exfoliation process.
